Born in Dallas, Texas to Eloise (Pence) Field and Charley S. Field, Jack attended Greenhill in Dallas and graduated in 1971. After graduation, he studied at Austin College in 1977, and El Centro in 1981. Jack started working as a paramedic, social worker, and registered nurse before deciding on medical school to become an emergency medicine physician, specializing in emergency medicine. He became D.O. in 1993 from Kansas City University, and was board certified in 1999.
During his working years, he became very close with the Davis family: Mike, Shirley, Jesse, Jamie, and Lisa. While they were not blood related, they were family.
When Jack was not working, he absolutely loved to travel. Traveling for work conferences allowed him to visit local and international destinations, and explore his love of different countries and culture. He would travel often, at times inviting a Davis family member. His favorite vacation destination was England, visiting there many times. Jack also enjoyed Germany, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, France, California, Las Vegas, Florida, New Orleans, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. While visiting these places, he loved the Great Britain Globe Theater in London, Disney, Universal theme parks, and he enjoyed winery tours.
Jack did not cook, but he loved home cooked meals when invited. His favorite being meatloaf with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese, ending with pie and ice cream. After living in his condo for 10+ years, the broiler pan remained wrapped in the original packaging in the oven.
Jack did not like crowds, and was a very private person. He would reference himself to be like “Dr. House”. While he was more reserved, his heart was of gold. He loved the Davis family as his own, especially Shirley and Jesse, as their friendship was like none other.
A funeral service to honor Jack will be held at 2pm Sunday, July 21, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
