Jack Thurman Gunnels, Jr., 74, died peacefully in his home in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Jack was the loving husband of Betty and father and father-in-law of Pam and Dale Meeks, Rhonda Faye and Adam Magazine, and devoted grandfather of Justin Meeks and Dylan Meeks. He is also survived by his brothers Edward Gunnels, Michael Gunnels, and Gregory Gunnels, his sister, Kay Gunnels Hastings and two nieces and seven nephews; he was preceded in death by his father Jack Thurman Gunnels, his mother Hazel Gunnels and his brother Eugene Gunnels. He served proudly in the Navy aboard the USS Saint Paul, and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and, for over 50 years, Lakeside Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at Lakeside Baptist Church, 9150 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218, with internment at Pecan Grove Historical Cemetery, 1701 South McDonald St, McKinney, Texas 75069 to follow.
