Jack married Sally Lou Poe on June 20, 1952. They were married 52 years, until her passing in 2003. He adored her to the end of his days, and she was instrumental in making him the man that he was.
He is survived by 3 sons and their wives: Scott & Carroll, Mark & Kathy, and Jeff & Lori, 11 grandchildren and their spouses (who he counted as his own) and 16 great grandchildren.
Jack was a Christian businessman, supporter, active in many charities and ministries, and a tennis enthusiast.
Upon graduation, Jack enlisted in the navy. After serving, he started his career at Westinghouse. In 1962, he founded Hall-Mark Electronics. The Lord gave him an amazing company of employees, friends and good success.
An All-American tennis player at Rice University, Jack never lost his passion for tennis.
He started T Bar M Tennis clubs in Texas, which later grew into T Bar M Christian Sports Camps in the hill country.
Jack & Sally attended and loved Northwest Bible Church and the Berean Sunday School Class. For many years, he was blessed to sit under the teaching of his best friend, Dr. Donald Campbell.
Jack was a man of prayer, a student of the Bible, and out of these became a man of wisdom and action. He served on several boards including Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas Tennis Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Salvation Army, T Bar M Camps & Retreats, and helped start the Dallas City Prayer Breakfast.
Many sought him out for counsel and mentoring, including his children and grandchildren.
He was a great competitor, and he and Sally were avid side-line fans and coaches at family sporting events. Jack was a family man, first and foremost. He had a toy room set up in his office at Hall-Mark as well as his home in retirement for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they visited.
We loved him dearly, and we will miss him greatly.
We are grateful to June Mayfield as well as James Coffey and his many caregivers that served dad the last two years.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Jack’s life at Northwest Bible Church on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at 1 p.m. In remembrance of Jack, donations can be made to T Bar M Camps, Dallas Theological Seminary, or the church of your choice.
