James Robert Spear

James Robert Spear died on August 12,2014. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margaret Kelly Spear, Dallas; three daughters: Jane Spear, Tampa, FL, Judy Vick, Fairview, TX; and, Janet Reeves, McKinney, TX. He has 6 living grandchildren: Allison Knowles, Bo Johnson, Amanda Phalin, Drew Boles, Stacey Thomas, and Meredith Humphries. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Fred and Oza Mills Spear, his brother, Fred Spear, Jr. and his grandson, Owen Reeves. Born in Aiken, Oklahoma on July 6, 1921, he grew up in Oklahoma City where he graduated from Central High Schol. He attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating with honors. From there he served in the Army Field Artillery during World War II, was released as a Captain and entered the Army Reserves. He earned his CPA certification upon his return to Oklahoma City. He worked at the Dolese Company in Oklahoma City for 21 years, leaving as Vice President, and served as President of CMI Corporation. He moved to Dallas and became Chief Financial Officer of Gifford Hill and Company, where he remained until his retirement. Visitation will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home Thursday, August 14, 2014 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside service will be Friday, August 15, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Northway Christian Church.
