James N. Whitson, age 81, of Dallas passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Dallas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born in Clinton, OK on March 14, 1935 to James and Georgia Whitson. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Lyda; son, Mark and his wife Carrie. He was preceded in death by his brother Bob Whitson. Jim graduated from Texas Tech University and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Jim was the former President of Sammons Communications and former Executive VP & COO of Sammons Enterprises. Jim also served as Chairman of C-Span, on the Board of CommScope and as a Board Member of Seligman Group. Jim enjoyed playing golf, hunting and was an avid reader.
