James Curtis Yarbrough

May 17, 1941 - October 10, 2023

Graveside Service starting at 2:00 pm on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 at Laurel Land Memorial Park (Marsalis gate entrance [2nd entrance] off of Laureland Road), 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232

Curtis was born and grew up in Dallas, Texas and passed away in The Colony, Texas, at 82 years of age.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer L. and Edith Francis Yarbrough. He will be joining his grandparents Travis E. and Fannie Mae Spillman whom he and his mother looked after.

After their passing, Curtis and his beloved mother looked after each other. His mother continued to cook delicious country style meals which the family enjoyed.

He was also preceded in death by his uncle, James Travis Spillman, Sr., and his aunt, Hallie Ruth Spillman Derr-Bruno. Hallie shared many stories about Curtis including teaching him how to drive.

He is survived by his cousins, V. Jeanette Spillman, James Travis Spillman, Jr., Cynthia Derr Dragoo, her husband Lee, Michaelle Derr and his wife Debora and

their families.

Curtis will also be missed by many friends and classmates.

He graduated from W. H. Adamson H. S. in 1959 and from Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, Texas.

Curtis loved going to the movies with Jeanette and long phone conversations with Cynthia, Cindy. He continued playing poker in many clubs and with his many friends. Curtis was never idle. He was outgoing and loved his family and friends, as they loved him.

Curtis will be deeply and lovingly missed.

A graveside service for James will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Laurel Land Mem Park - Dallas, 6300 S. R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75232.
