Janice Friedman Grossman of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 in Plano, Texas. Janice was born on October 24, 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents Nathan L. and Judith (Fishkind) Friedman.
She grew up in Tampa, and lived for most of her life in Texas. She cheered for the Dallas Cowboys and any team her children or grandchildren played on. She was a master in the kitchen and loved preparing family recipes. She enjoyed spending time with her friends playing spades, Mah Jongg, working crossword puzzles and Rummikub. She was married for more than 50 years to the love of her life, Fred L. Grossman. Together they raised three children and ran a jewelry business. She also worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.
Janice had a sense of humor that could be wicked at times, the kind that made you laugh even when you knew you probably shouldn’t. With her, there was always a sparkle in the conversation, always a perfectly timed comment that reminded you she saw the world in her own unique, witty way.
But behind that humor was a heart completely dedicated to her family. She poured herself into her children, her grandchildren and her granddogs. Nothing mattered more to her than making sure the people (and four-legged friends) she loved knew just how deeply she cared.
Janice is survived by her children, David Grossman and his wife Kimberly, Barry Grossman and his wife Stephanie, Shari Ornstein and her husband Charles; grandchildren, Ashley Grossman, Joshua Grossman, Miles Ornstein, Jude Ornstein, Bobby Grossman, Benji Grossman and Holden Ornstein. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, her beloved sister Rosalie Friedman and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or DFW Beagle Buddies
