Whittington, II and Sallie Mae McCoy. The Whittington’s had 3 other children Anthony R
Whittington, Gerald L Whittington and Hughes Whittington, III.
As a young girl, Janice loved attending church and once it was discovered that she had a voice
gifted from God, performing in the choir became one of her greatest joys.
While in high school she met George E. Caldwell, who was a MP officer in the Army. They soon
married and on December 25, 1969, they had a son, Christian Noel Caldwell.
Janice was able to finish high school and go on to attend college. George left the military in
1971 and moved back home to Mississippi.
At Bishop College, Janice thrived, and once Dr. Wilson and the Campus heard that voice, “The
Diva” was born. She performed all over for Bishop and loved every minute of it.
Besides the Choir, there was one other family she joined and loved dearly. Delta Sigma Theta,
INC. She cherished her sisters and the lifetime of love, sisterhood and support they gave to her.
After graduation, Janice went on to build her life in Dallas, TX. She worked at Texas
Instruments, where she met and married Richard F Hudson. She went on to Xerox where she
worked for almost 30 years. After Xerox, Janice opened a store on eBay where she sold clothes,
jewelry and coins. It was around 2010, when she went to work for the US government and
then retired in 2022.
Janice found love again and married Mr. Garfield Hawk,III in 2021. Janice and Garfield bought a
home in Temple, TX and lived there together until she went home to glory.
Janice was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather and first husband.
She leaves here to cherish her memory: Her husband, 2 step sons (with grandchildren), 3
brothers, several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, sorors and her only child, Chris.
Momma, I will miss you every single day, until I see you again, Chris.
