Jason grew up going to school in Sanger, Texas and spent his summers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Marching Band and The Theater at Sanger High School. He graduated in 1990 and enlisted in the Navy shortly thereafter, where he trained in Cryptography. He served in the Navy for six years at Naval bases spanning from Pensacola, Florida, Bangor, Maine, and Washington D.C. to Edinburgh, Scotland and Diego Garcia Naval Air Facility. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1996. He then took his military skills and applied them to his work career in the private sector specializing in Information Technology where he worked with computers from simple maintenance to mainframes.
Jason was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan and an avid animal lover, specifically his love for Boston Terriers.
