JD Rogers

JD attended Merit High School before Joining the U.S. Army in 1944, and he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. He retired from Pulte Homes in 1995. JD loved to fish and to go boating and camping with his family, and always welcomed family and friends to his and Granny’s home for parties, even after she passed away. He also enjoyed taking vacations with Granny and other members of the family. He was always taking pictures of everyone, family and friends, when at his home or out visiting.

JD was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Opal Rogers; step-sons, Calvin Jackson and Eddie Jackson; granddaughter, Melanie Jackson; parents, Joseph and Della Powell Rogers; brothers, Edwin, Milas, and Weldon; sisters, Myrtle, Zelma, Elsie, and Loreta.

He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Rogers-Stafford and husband Michael Stafford; step-children, Mary Jo Anderson, and Beverly Whitney and husband Graydon Whitney; grandchildren, Barrie Lynn Jubert, Sondra Coleman, Brian Whitney, Kristin Hill and husband Glenn, Kari Lane, Amber Norris, Ronnie Norris and wife Leigh, and Autumn Reeves and husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Allison Jubert, Hillary Coleman, Kaitlyn Coleman, Dylan Lane, Cody Lane, Kailey Whitney, Hannah Whitney, Holden Hill, Whitney Hill, Jenna Hill, Aubrey Fenton, Isabelle Nieves, Alyssa Holden, Elisha Norris, Robert Norris, Dylan Adames and McKenna Reeves; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., and Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 2:00 P.M., all at Grove Hill Funeral Home.

Military Funeral Honors and Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
