Jean Akins, was born September 20, 1927 in Cumby, Texas to Elmer O. and Esther Roffe Long and passed away February 11, 2010 in Mesquite, Texas. Survived by her husband of 64 years, Lee Akins; son, Braxton Akins and wife Donna; daughters, Martha Akins Johnson and Liz Luse and her husband Greg Luse; grandchildren, Lindsay Akins, Jared Akins, Lauren Akins, Alicia Johnson, Kathryn Luse and Jeffrey Luse; brother, R.A. Long. Visitation 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Sparkman/Hillcrest. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 La Prada Dr., Dallas, Texas 75228, Rev. Tracy Dophied, officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
