A lifelong Dallasite, Jennifer entered this world on June 8, 1976, surrounded by a loving extended family and a community she grew to treasure. A graduate of Highland Park High School and The University of Texas, she also attended The University of Arizona, where she became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
After a brief NYC stint in fashion and design, our “Texas Sunshine” headed home for good. Lasting friendships marked each chapter of her life, as evidenced by the outpouring of love and support from across the country throughout her illness.
Known for her creativity, warmth, and ability to make any space feel like home, Jennifer built a meaningful career in interior design, where clients became friends. JLM Design reflected her generous spirit and her gift for curating beauty in the everyday.
But above all, Jennifer’s greatest joy was her family, who brought tremendous love and happiness into her life. She is survived by her fiancé, Troy Horning; beloved children, Griffin, Henry, and Caroline McLochlin; devoted parents, Carla and Sherman La Barba; siblings, Jeff La Barba (Rod Hanson) and Julie La Barba, MD (Robert Miggins); in-laws, Maureen Bridwell (Tom Bridwell) and Collin McLochlin; nieces and nephews: Betty Bridwell, Lily Miggins, John Carlo Miggins, Patrick Miggins, and James Miggins; numerous cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as her loyal pup, Maisy, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Jennifer’s kindness, sense of humor, resilience, and innate style were matched only by her unwavering love for her family and friends.
Jenn, you will forever be a light in our lives and the beat in our hearts. No more sick days. All is calm, all is bright. Sleep in heavenly peace.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the care teams at UT Southwestern Neuro-Oncology, Collage Neuro Rehabilitation, and Villa Care Home Health for their unwavering and compassionate care. We also extend our deepest appreciation to the entire staff of the T. Boone Pickens Center for Hospice Care for the profound and positive impact they had on Jennifer’s final days.
A Rosary will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. and a reception. Private burial.
