Jerry L. Holmes

Jerry L. Holmes was born in Dallas, Texas on March 9, 1933. He was a faithful, devoted Christian and went to be with his Lord on September 15, 2014. Jerry grew up in Dallas and graduated from Forest Avenue High School. He earned his two bachelors, a masters and a doctorate degree from North Texas State University. At the rank of Captain, he served as a pilot in the US Air Force Strategic Air Command during the Cold War. His career in education began as an administrator in Irving ISD. He served on the faculty of El Centro College and later Southwest Texas State University. He continued in education as a Training Director in the medical field at UT Health Science Center and then as a Training Director in financial services at Rauscher Pierce Refnes, Inc. He also served numerous clients as a Certified Financial Planner. Preceded in death by his parents, Lucian and Grace Holmes and brother LB Holmes, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Henrietta; daughters Cheryl Scott, Suzanne Brown and her husband, Ken; grandchildren Jeff and Jeremy Scott; Thornton, Watson, and Brinkley Brown; sister Linda Ashcraft; brother Larry Holmes; cousin Paul Davidson; numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home at 12:00pm on October 4, 2014.
