

Jessie, born on August 21, 1941, in Warren County Mississippi, was the youngest of three children from the marital union of Nettie Carpenter (Thomas)Baker and George G. Thomas, Sr. Through his mother’s second marriage, he gained three younger siblings, Robert, Jimmie, and Solomon, Jr. The family moved to Greenwood, Mississippi before finally moving again to settle in Natchez, Mississippi in 1958.
Jessie had the love of Christ in his heart, and when he moved to Dallas, Texas in 1969, he frequented True Believers Tabernacle for a number of years. In later years, he maintained his connection to Christ through listening to his favorite gospel songs and ministers via tele-ministry. He specifically enjoyed listening to the Gospel Keynotes and Jackson Southernaires.
When Jessie moved to Dallas, Texas in 1969, he first worked for Tacker and Schelling Metal Corporation. Not long afterwards, he followed in the footsteps of his oldest brother, George, and became a truck driver. He spent 41 years driving for Frozen Foods, Incorporated.
During his life in Dallas, Texas, Jessie lived, loved, and laughed with his soul mate, Gwendolyn Stewart Thomas and the children they raised, Rhonda (Candy) and twin boys Robbie and Bobbie. Jessie enjoyed playing Spades, and considered himself the king of the card game, spending time with family and friends, and watching has favorite television series, In the Heat of the Night, movies with his favorite actor, Matt Dillon, Dallas Cowboys football games, Los Angeles Lakers basketball games, and westerns.
Jessie is preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn, two sons Barrett and Robbie, his parents, his sister, Lillie Townsend, and two brothers George Thomas, Jr. and Robert D. Baker.
He leaves to cherish his memories and carry his legacy, daughters Theria "Jean", Rhonda "Candy", son Bobbie (Marlena), brothers Jimmie B. Baker, Sr. (Linda) and Solomon Baker, Jr. (Brenda), eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
