

Jimmie D. O’Quinn (Jim) died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 26, 2021, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 83. Jim was a kind, loving and generous person who had a joyful laugh, quick wit and was a great storyteller. He had many friends and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He was born in Red Lick, Jefferson County, Mississippi, and was the youngest son of Blanche Smith and John Singleton O’Quinn. The family moved to Fayette, MS, in 1939 where he graduated from Fayette High School in 1955. He obtained a BS Degree in Geology from Mississippi State University; served in the National Guard and Army reserve; and began his career in Houston, TX, where he was married in 1961 to Jo Ann Allen, who preceded him in death in 2004. His career was as a Property Tax Consultant with Mobil Oil for a few years and as a Partner with Marvin F. Poer & Company, where he retired after 30 years and pursued his passion for golf at Prestonwood Country Club in Dallas and Lake Caroline Golf Club in Madison, MS.
Jim is survived by his wife of 11 years, Ann Porter Yerger; two daughters Shelley Dentzler (Kevin) of Frisco, TX, and Shannon Frantz (Joel) of Dallas, TX; and two stepdaughters, Kimberly Vollmer (Rick) of Germantown, TN, and Elizabeth Spence (Cary) of Jackson, MS. He was devoted to his grandson, Jarod Frantz, and two step-grandchildren, Richard and Ann Elizabeth Vollmer. He is also survived by a brother, Byron O'Quinn of Huntsville, AL, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were 3 siblings, John Louis O’Quinn, Louise Marchetti and Ruby Koehler.
There was a private family memorial service on Thursday, July 1.
