He was a life long Texan being born in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1973 where he was in the marching band in his junior year. Arlington, Texas was his hometown. Jimmy was a career flight attendant graduating in the class of 1977 with Braniff Airlines then moving on to United Airlines where he flew for 25 years until his retirement.
His fellow flight attendants were always kept entertained with his great humor and pranks such as the Whoopi cushion and the fake dirty diapers just to name a few. Within minutes of his passing being posted on the United Memorial page he received over 300 comments. They all expressed the joy of flying with him and how he made them laugh. There are stacks of complimentary letters from satisfied passengers in his files. He always went beyond the normal duties of a flight attendant to make sure everyone on board was content and watched after.
Jimmy’s #1 Love was for Linda Ronstadt! He was crazy about her music, voice, delivery and many musical accomplishments. She was beautiful and had that special musical touch. He went to over 50 of her concerts all over the USA over the years. He was also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, texting with his nephew Justin and his sister GiGi during the games. His Daddy, Pete The Greek, would drive out to Jimmy’s house in Grapevine from Arlington to watch those Cowboys games with him many many times. They loved that time together. Jimmy was proud of his Greek heritage but would not eat lamb! He visited Greece five times, always having a wonderful time with relatives and making new friends. His Mother, Mary, called him her Golden Boy. She lived with him after Pete passed away and they were two peas in a pod. Jimmy was her caretaker for a decade as her health declined. Mary lived to be 96. Jimmy and his sister Mary Helen would spend hours in her garage singing karaoke. He loved music and his chihuahuas, Dolly and Peanut who will be living with his sister GiGi.
He is survived by his sisters GiGi Benno (Andrew Hardin) Mary Helen Williams (David) beloved nephew Justin (Makenna) and Niece Georgia (Jose), great nephew Joseph, Aunt Angel, and several cousins and his devoted friends Romlee Stoughton and Michele Calvin.
