Joan Ruvel Loeb, 84, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 11, 2019. She was born on May 1, 1935, in Kansas City, MO. After meeting her future husband, Milton, while at college in New Orleans, she married, then settled in Dallas, where she raised her family and served the community.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Blanche and Niel Ruvel; and sister, Marty May. She is survived by her children, Jeri Dushkin (Leland), Karen Allen (Bill May) and Niel Loeb (Kristen); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Betsy and Stuart Zimbalist; sister-in-law, May Sebel; brother-in-law, Mike May; 12 nieces and nephews; and 6 great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas, TX at 11:30 AM, Monday, July 15, 2019. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southern Poverty Law Center, Hunger Relief Projects at Temple Emanu-El, and Vogel Alcove.
