Joelene Tarter was born in Puducah, Texas, on May 2, 1941. She was the youngest of four children born to the late Cecil and Loretta Reedy. Joelene graduated from Colorado City High School in 1959. A few months later, she married the late John E. Tarter, on July 3, 1959. Joelene and John had their children while living in Amarillo in the early 1960’s and moved to Dallas in 1967. She was a beloved wife and mother who was a full-time mom while her children grew up. She started part-time retail work in 1976. She continued in retail for another 30 years, serving as Assistant Manager working for Myers, Mitchells and Family Dollar. She was preceded in death by her husband John, and one brother, Kenneth. She is survived by her son, Terry Tarter and his wife, Desiree; daughter, Jackie Solomon and her husband, Dan; three grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary and Andrew; sister, Shirley Beal and her husband, Red; brother, Gary Reedy and his wife Barbara; and countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. “Anyone wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers can make a donation directly to Faith Presbyterian Hospice at the following address: 4350 Sigma Road, Suite 400, Dallas, TX 75244”
