Words can’t express how what I truly mean. Mr .Finney you were a great man and the time I did know you, you always wore a bright smile and always had encouraging words.  Thank you for brightening the room every time you entered it. Thank you for my amazing friend.  Rest in love. You will be missed.

John Finney...How do you sum up the measure of a man in a few words? I don't know. What I will say is that John Finney was an elder, a friend, a counselor, a man of great wisdom, a co-worker and a great man of God. I along with many others grew up and matured under John during our careers with AT&T. Personally, I watched John push through his own personal health issues and through it all his work ethic and his faith in God never waivered. I once watched him coming in to work, trench coat covering his shoulders, bent a little but not broken. and he never complained. He simply came in, did his job and at the end of the day he went home. If you were ever blessed with the opportunity to sit and have a conversation with John you knew that you had better get comfortable because you would be sitting and absorbing all that he had to share for at least an hour or two. LOL! At the end of the conversation you would have the answers that you were seeking along with invaluable life lessons and spiritual guidance that you never knew you needed. John guided me through many trials and tribulations in my professional and personal life. He celebrated my accomplishments and corrected me when necessary. Many are called but few are chosen! John Finney was chosen and he understood his assignment. John loved his family, biological or not and was not shy about sharing and celebrating their accomplishments. I recall all of the stories of his grandson and track meets, the stories of his daughter and son and of his wife and family. How do you sum up the measure of a man in a few words? There are not enough words to express my gratitude, my thankfulness, my appreciation and the opportunity to have known such a gentle giant. To the family, may God provide an absolute and unwavering comfort in knowing that your loved one touched and had such a positive and unconditional imprint on so many near and far. May the grace, mercy and peace of God be with you all during this time. Annie James

My sincere condolences to the Finney family. John was my co worker but also a close friend. I learned a lot from him to thrive not only professionally but in my personal life as well. He was such a good listener and always had  experiences and knowledge to share. I will miss our chats and the laughs as we could always find the bright side of things. Rest in peace my dear friend. You will be truly missed.

My 2nd Dad. Being in your presence, there was never a dull moment, never a moment without love, and quite frankly never a moment without a lesson. I thank you for adopting me into the family and always treating me and my boys as your own. You have the most amazing family and you definitely have left an eternal impact on, not only us, but the world. Thank you for your kind encouraging words and just being exactly who we needed at every given time. I love you always and forever.

We honor John.
We, the seniors of 1976 salute our classmate and class president, John Keith Finney. With respect, love, and appreciation for a life well lived, we bid him farewell. John had a way of making you laugh at yourself on your worst day. After making you laugh at yourself he would then remind you that it's going to get better, seriously. John had a style of his own. John was not concerned about the crowd. He set the pace. He was always well dressed, and his afro was together. He was a great musician, and he loved God. We had interesting discussions in Mr. Joe's Sunday School class. He attended church regularly. He showed respect, and he was respected. He was humorous, kind, and understanding. John was greatly admired by his classmates, band members, and friends. We offer our condolences to his wife Erma, to LeKeith, JeQuita, to his family, and friends. As your hearts grieve think on these

John represented true professionalism.   During the years of 2006 thru 2009,   I sat outside of his office and he provided technical expertise  to assist me with the restoration of numerous network outages.   

We discussed politics, sports and our faith.  I enjoyed working under his leadership.   He was a role model for Black males at AT&T.    My prayers for his family.

I remember keith when he were young.he love joking and having fun.he love to make others happy.he were a happy person .

John  stood out for his exceptional character qualities.
He was a man of unshakeable faith in the Lord.
I marveled at the level of his intellect no matter the subject matter.
How he loved his family and took pride in his work.
I thank God for allowing our paths to cross on my spiritual journey.

To the family, my heart goes out to you. He was a great man who loved his family. When I met him through True Speed, I never forgot how he helped me with my son, AD. He always encouraged me with wise words and reminded me to slow down. He will never be forgotten.

My name is Paula (Caldwell) Glasby. John and I worked together at 4100 Bryan Street for at least 15 years. I remember when John first came back from his long term disability. At the time I didn’t know the severity of his illness. Why…. Because John was so positive and warm.  It didn’t matter what assignment he was given, he did it. John truly did God’s work. Happy to work, happy to breathe and happy to be with his friends. I have much comfort knowing John is one of the saints in heaven. My prayers are with you.

John Finney is one of my most favorite people on this earth.  Met him 23 year's ago at a Mesquite Panther peewee football practice. I was sitting off to the side hitting golf balls and my son Jared was with me.  John walks up and asked if my son might want to play football. I told him he was only three years old.  John was surprised because Jared was a tall kid.  He grabbed Jared's hand and told me to just keep hitting the ball with the little club, I got Jared.  We have been brothers ever since.   Through football, track, talks on the phone and visits at the house.  Love this man and will miss him terribly.   
To the family, you have my most sincerest condolences. I am here for you and will walk with you as we go through this process.  Love you all dearly.
