John H. Horton

Johnny Henry Horton was born January 24, 1943 to the parents of Johnnie Horton and Rachel Norton Horton in Keithville, Louisiana (Caddo Parrish, Louisiana.) On Thursday, August 29, 2019 John transition to the spiritual LIFE with GOD. He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and two sisters.

John was educated in Shreveport, Louisiana (Caddo Parrish); he served in the military, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. He served in the Vietnam War and he received the Purple Heart for his VALOR during his service to his country.

John worked for the City of Dallas in the Park and Recreation division for thirty-five years as a Chemical Applicator. John received his Associate Degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Richland College in Dallas.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Alice Marie Mustiful on April 16,1967 in Mansfield Louisiana (Oxford-Benson.)

John accepted Christ under Pastor Johnson at Progressive Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Alice Marie Horton of fifty-two years of marriage; one daughter, Dorinda L. Horton; one son, Gerald B. Horton (Traci); two grandchildren, Nickalaus G. Horton and Kiara N. Horton; two sisters, Betty Walker and Alma Williams; five sisters-in-laws, six brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
