

JD was born on December 21, 1929 to Jesse and Cora Junell in Cleburne, Texas. He is the last surviving member of his brothers, TJ Junell, William F. Junell, Tobe Junell, and Tom Buckby and his sisters, Eleta Harrison, Ollie Way and Grace Cox. JD was married to his childhood sweetheart, Jackie Jenkins Junell, for 72 years.
He is mourned by his son Gary Junell, his grandchildren Cobey Junell and Brittney Junell Hubbard, his great grandchildren Texas Junell and London Junell, as well as numerous other family and friends who were by his side as he passed.
JD lived a valiant life of service to his family, his country and his friends. JD served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Corporal until he was honorably discharged. JD worked for a concrete business until becoming a long haul driver for Sears Roebuck, where he received numerous awards for safe driving and longevity. JD retired to the home he built for Jackie in Terrell, Texas, where he pursued his passion for gardening. He was known for his tireless work ethic, kindness to others, talented fiddle playing, helping those in need, aiding his family and being a loving husband, father, uncle and grandpa.
His family is thankful to all those who assisted, cared for and spent time with Grandpa during his dignified last days.
