August 16, 1943 Julia Ann Thomas was born in Bryan TX to Jethro and Lela Mae Thomas. The youngest of 8 children. Julia and her family moved to Wichita, KS and that is where she grew up. She attended schools L'Overture Elementary, Horace Mann, and North High from which she graduated in 1961. Being the youngest of 8 siblings, she would tell stories of how she would hang out with her sisters growing up, particularly her sisters Ethel and Gladys. And this is how we as their children were always accustomed to seeing them, the three Musketeers.
In 1965, she married Charles H London (literally the boy next door). From this union three daughters were born, Treva LaShawn, Leanne Denise and Charlene Michele. Julia joined Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator in 1969. As she advanced to other positions she was offered to transfer from Wichita to Dallas Texas in 1985. She made this move alone and brought her girls down once she was settled.
She had the gift of creativity in sewing, which she used in making clothing and crocheting blankets for family and friends. She loved dancing which you could always get her to do when she heard some good music she liked. Family gatherings and picnics, her and her sisters' were always together. She loved her family.
She worked for Southwestern Bell until she retired in 2001 after 31 years of service.
Julia spent her retirement years vacationing with family, visiting her sisters, taking care of her grandchildren and one of her favorite pastimes, playing bingo.
Those left to cherish her beautiful memories; her daughters Leanne Denise London and Charlene Michele Johnson (Vincent), her grandsons, Vincent II, Trevor and Quinten; her granddaughter Leila Michele and her great-grandson Christian Marcus Hernandez-Johnson; and a host of family and friends.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.laurellanddallas.com for the London family.
