Kathleen Parkerson Hanson, 69, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, just days before her 70th birthday. She was born on April 8, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to Lillian Muriel Parkerson and Cecil Joseph Parkerson, the youngest of eight children.
A lifelong North Texan, Kathy was raised in Dallas, where she attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School through eighth grade and later graduated from North Dallas High School. She spent much of her life in the Dallas area, most recently residing in Irving and Mount Pleasant, Texas. She was previously married to Travis Hanson, with whom she had three daughters.
Kathy will be remembered for her gentle spirit and kind heart. Soft-spoken and calm, she carried herself with a quiet and comforting presence. Though her life included personal challenges, she met them with resilience and grace.
She worked in a variety of roles throughout her life, primarily in telemarketing and call center environments; including positions with Garbarino and Johns, Wadley’s Blood Bank, and the Irving Jaycees. In each role, she was known for her steady demeanor and dedication.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Cecil, Pat and Jim Parkerson; and her sisters, Margaret Schmitz and Mary McGowan. She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Hanson (Dominique Smith), Julie Hanson, and Diana Smith (Eric); her four beloved grandchildren; her sister, Theresa Pereira (Bob); and her brother, Mike Parkerson (Linda). She also leaves behind her dear friend, Larry Crocker, and many extended family members who will remember her with love.
Kathy’s life reminds us that kindness does not need to be loud to be meaningful. Her gentle voice and tender heart will not be forgotten.
A service will be held by the family at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, Dallas, on Monday, April 13 with a viewing at 11:30am, Liturgy of the Word at 1:00pm and burial following at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness North Texas (naminorthtexas.org).
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.calvaryhilldallas.com for the family.
