

Kenneth Alvin Klein, “Ken”, was born September 13th 1946, and passed from this life on the night of March 24th 2012 with his wife Pam, and daughters Ashley and Kimberly by his side. Born in Blue Island, Illinois to Walter and Dorothy Klein, he graduated from Scarritt College for Christian Workers with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then completed one year at Emory University Theological Seminary. In the early 70’s, he began his career as a firefighter/paramedic in Atlanta, GA where he met his future wife Pam. They married in 1982 and returned to her home of Richardson, TX. Continuing his career for another 27 years in EMS with the Plano Fire Department, he was awarded the EMS Administrator of the Year award by the state of Texas. He was a licensed paramedic, EMS Captain and at the age of 50, became a Registered Nurse. Ken retired from the City of Plano on January 31st, 2012. He had boundless knowledge on many subjects, particularly Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. He was a loving and devoted husband and father with a unique ability to always provide comic relief, even in his final days. He leaves behind a brother and sister, mother and father-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Custer Road United Methodist Church on Wednesday March 27th at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
