My condolences to the family of Coach Potter. I was fortunate to have him for history class at Lincoln Magnet; I loved how he used to light up when he talked to the guys in our class who ran track. He was a great man and he will truly be missed.

My condolences to the Potter family. I have great respect for this fine man. The few interactions with him at L.D. Bell were easily the most professional I have ever had. Over the last 40+ plus years his example remains as the one I would hope to model. If a young person wanted to see what God expects from man, all he would have to do is look at Coach. My condolences to the Potter family. I had Coach Potter for history at Stephen F. Austin in Galveston, TX.  I'll never forget the surprise I had when I walked into history class at L.D.Bell (after moving up here) & there sat Coach Potter!  Small world!  All of us who had him for a teacher or coach were very blessed.  My prayers are with you at this time.

Coach Potter was such a part of our high school life at L.D. Bell in the 1960's.  He was a tower of strength for us when our beloved head coach died in 1963 and when our President was killed that same November.

I worked with Coach Potter back in the early 90's at Lincoln.  Nice guy, the teens so thought so much of him.  Prayers for him and his family, I know he will be much missed.

Coach touched the lives of many young students and we will never forget his strength and eagerness to teach and motivate us.  Rest in the Peace of Our Lord.

More than being a wonderful coach, history teacher - he was such a good man; an always positive influence and his students felt like he was their friend.  I was one of his history students at Bell (class of '64) and everyone loved him and his classes.  The world was a much better place with him in it.  Love you Coach Potter!  May God's grace, love, mercy and strength be with his family.

My deepest condolences to the Potter family.

I had Coach Potter for History in my Senior year at LD Bell, Class of '65. I transferred there from Altus High School in Oklahoma and before that from Bangor High School in Maine and never had Texas's version of High School History.  I was one of two seniors in the class of ninth graders and the two of us had an absolute ball in his class.  He was and remains one of my favorite teachers from my year at Bell! Actually we were just reminiscing about him last month.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and please know that he touched so many lives with his gruff but gentle and often funny teaching and coaching style.

Moose was one of my favorite people in the world.  He was such a presence that even though I was one of his students from 1970-73, here 41 years later I still expected him to outlive me.  The world is a little smaller and less gracious without him.  Thank you Coach.

May God keep you close and give you strength.  Coach Potter touched many a student's life, in his career and was loved by all of them.  I was in the LD Bell Class of 64.

I am so very sorry for your loss. The Potter family was such an important part of my Middle and High school years. Mr. Potter was always so gentle and kind to me.  In the ninth grade he had told me once that he was proud of me, which made me feel so very special.  I can still see him driving by my house in the blue comet to tell Larry it was time to come home, Larry had taken Buck out for a walk.  Yep the good ol days!  Thank you all for being a special part of my life.  With my deepest sympathy.

My sympathy goes to all of Mr. Potter's family and friends. He was absolutely my favorite teacher, even though I learned more about football than I did about history!! He was an outstanding human being. He will be greatly missed.

We were very saddened to learn about Kenneth as he was a great friend to both Leon and to me when I first started in HEB ISD.  Leon enjoyed his company and their coaching stories and relationships with all the coaches in HEB.  We have talked about him often and wondered how things were going for him and his family over the past few years.  I agree with one of his former students that he was a "gentle giant" who enjoyed his family and friends and made sure they all knew it.  Our sympathies go to the entire family and all of the friends who will feel the loss.
