

Kermit Nixon departed this life on March 14, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Born to W.T. Nixon and Lizzie Nixon on June 26, 1932 in Midway, Texas. He accepted Christ in November of 2006. Kermit met and in November 1958, married Elizabeth McCoy, together they raised seven children. Those left to cherish his memories are two sons; Donald Nixon, Kermit Nixon Jr., and. three daughters; Annie Busby an her husband Eugene, Beverly Nixon and Pamela Cornelious, seven grandchildren; Larry Fitzgerald Jr and his wife Lakresha and Bryan Fitzgerald, Sr., Fernando J. Busby, Avery Raashad Busby, Brittany Elizabeth Nixon Waites, James Cornelious and Jamese Cornelious, four Great-grandchildren, Bryan Fitzgerald Jr., Bryanna Fitzgerald, Zy’On Cornelious and Zy’Nese Cornelious, three brothers; Waydell Nixon, Isiam Nixon, and Melvin Nixon, and sisters Sylvia Brown, Dore Burnett, Annie Nixon and Nina Nixon. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth, two sons; Walter Nixon and Charles Nixon and his parents, brothers; George Nixon, Emmit Nixon, Lee Chester Nixon and Maceal Nixon, sisters; Louise Williams, Mae Opal Vick and Elmira Nixon.
Kermit worked for the City of Dallas in the Sanitation department from 1963 until he retired, as a supervisor, in 1994. He loved to watch his sports. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and the Game of Basketball. He also loved to attend High School basketball. He was a country boy stuck in the city, he would often travel home to pick up a load of watermelons to sell in Dallas. He loved to fish, and he loved to work on cars, and he loved to listen to the Blues!
He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
