Laura Estela Marin Wren was born in Los Azulitos, Jalisco, Mexico on September 10, 1965 and arrived in heaven on July 17, 2016. She was married to Chad Wren, the love of her life whom she met as students at UT Austin, on May 17, 1997. Laura’s life was that of a dedicated and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was a blessing to every life she touched. Her life and legacy will continue to be remembered and celebrated by her husband Chad and children, Savannah, Sophia and Ethan; parents, Jose and Enriqueta Marin, of Dallas; her siblings Flor Marin-Reig (Jordi), Joe Marin, Blanca Marin-Reig (Oscar), Angelica Hill (Barry), and nephews Jordi Austin Reig and Barry “Tres” Hill, of Dallas; her mother-in-law, Dianne Wren of Gilmer, Texas; brother-in-law, John Wren (Molly) of Dallas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her dearly. Until two years ago, Laura was a dedicated account manager for many years at Highland Homes and at Culinaire, where she took her responsibilities very seriously. She always said, “I am not a clock watcher.” Two years ago, she became nanny to her two year-old nephew Tres, which she often said made her so happy, and is the greatest gift she could have bestowed on him. Laura had trials through life that she always handled with such grace and dignity, including her courageous battle with cancer that she lost after four short years. Strength, love and faith carried her through it all, and she said many times in the last few years that since her diagnosis, she had truly lived every day by her renewed faith in God, and asked us all to trust in Him and His plan. Laura earned her reputation for how sweet and caring she always was – it was impossible to not feel good and loved when you were with her (and forget in a second how tardy she probably was to meet you!). Laura was always happy and kind and that will forever shine in our hearts. We will miss her tremendously, but take comfort in knowing that she is in a better place and watching over us. Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and the Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park on Northwest Highway. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Dallas, Texas. Should you wish, flowers may be sent to Sparkman Hillcrest or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to UT Southwestern Medical Center to support cancer research, at P.O. Box 910888, Dallas, TX 75391-0888 or online at www.utsouthwestern.edu/donatenow.
