Lavona, affectionately known as "Strawberry", was born in Cumby, Texas on December 25, 1936 to James Clyde Evans and Ella May Evans. She attended South Oak Cliff High School. Lavona married Thomas Earl Cook in 1954 and they were married for 24 years.
Lavona retired from Kroger, where she worked for many years. In her retirement, she enjoyed going to the casino, shopping, gardening, flowers, feeding the birds, and watching the Cowboys and Rangers.
Lavona is preceded in death by her husband Thomas, parents James and Ella Evans, son Greg Cook, daughter Tammy Sakurada, and sisters Wilma Dean and Mickey Beth.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Graeser and husband Ted Graeser; grandchildren, Dionne Richards, Stacie Guerrero, Amanda Rocha, Jennifer Barnett, Jason Graeser, and Kaz Sakurada; numerous great and great-great grandchildren as well as other family and friends.
