

Leocadia R. Garza passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2017, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 72. She was born on January 1, 1945, in Dallas, Texas to Lazaro and Eloisa Rodriguez. Growing up in Dallas, she was proud to have graduated from Crozier Technical High School in 1963. Four years later, in 1967, she married Juan N. Garza. Together, the couple had five children (Mr. Anthony J. Serrano, Mrs. Angela Cruz, Mr. Augustine Garza, Mr. John A. Garza, and Mr. Luis Garza) who gave them 21 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. As a devoted homemaker, Leocadia’s greatest gift was her unwavering love for her family. Her soul was filled with compassion and generosity, but also wanderlust as she adored traveling. Her compassion, generosity, devotion, and selflessness will be missed by her family and all those whose lives she impacted. She is preceded in death by her husband Juan N. Garza, father Lazaro Rodriguez, mother Eloisa Rodriguez, brothers Martin and Augustine Rodriguez, and sister Santos Tamayo. Leocadia is survived by her children son Anthony J. Serrano and grandchildren Nadia Arce, Anthony Serrano Jr., Vanessa M. Ruiz, John A. Serrano, Alisa VillaFranco, daughter Angela and husband Frank Cruz Jr. and grandchildren Franchesca Cruz, Jose Cervantes, Felicia Cruz, Clarissa Cruz, and Frank Cruz III, son Augustine and wife Terri Garza and grandchildren Victor Gomez, Priscilla Arriaga, Valerie Garza, Augustine Garza Jr., Marissa Garza, son John A. and wife Maria Garza and grandchildren Dezaray Garza, Vanessa Alaniz, Jessica Fosnight Julissa Garza, and son Luis and wife Brenda Garza and grandchildren Laila and Aleya Garza. Thank you to Dr. Thomas Shima of Methodist Charlton and his team for the loving and dedicated care of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Visitation will be on Friday, August 18, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 19, from 10:30-11:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. The burial will follow from 12:00-12:30 PM at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
