

Born Leona Agnes Weir in Denver on February 7, 1924. Lee died peacefully at Arbor House in the early morning of December 22, 2016. Leona is second of 6 daughters and graduated from St. Francis DeSalle High School in Denver.
She married Wendell W. Sheffield on October 20, 1943 but stayed in Denver until Wendell’s return from WWII eventually settling in Dallas, Texas to raise a family. Lee was creative and showed her love for her family by years of sewing adorable and functional outfits and was often sought after for her baking and decorative wedding cake skills.
Not one to sit idle, Lee was an involved mother and wife volunteering as a Cub Scout Den Mother, attending PTA meetings and organizing weekend family camping trips to Lake Whitney with her husband and four sons. Lee was an avid league bowler at the Bronco Bowl often averaging scores over 130. She was a busy member of the Otis Elevator Retirees group
Lee was a devout Catholic and longtime member of the St. Elizabeth altar guild. For over 50 years Lee would be found sitting dutifully in her spot at early mass.
She is survived by sons Wendell, Jr; Robert, William, Barry and their wives and her sister Geraldine (Weir) Cooney. Also, 12 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-great grandchildren.
Lee was a loving, dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.
Lee was a devoted wife and mother. Her quick wit, kindness and smile will truly be missed.
