Linda Rae Crabb (Facinger) passed away on Sunday, October 30th, after an unexpectedly brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She is mourned by many and especially her husband, the love of her life, Stephen Crabb. She cherished and celebrated each day they shared, and the breadth and depth of their love was inspirational. Her absence is keenly felt by her siblings Leslie Krass, Eric Facinger and Lori Spies. She was dearly loved by her nieces Tammy Flatt, Shelly Ley, Gennie Spies, Melanie Facinger and Zanna Flatt and nephews Nick Flatt and Evan Facinger. Her great-nephews and nieces will no doubt grow up hearing stories about the glamorous and fun great Auntie Linda. She will be missed by her life-long friends and her Preston Hollow Women's group. Linda took Mah Jong lessons at the local center to add more fun to her days. She joined a book club and promptly lobbied to delete the rule that required members actually read the book. Rules really were guidelines and she encouraged all of those around her to seize each moment and make it something grand. She did NOT save the good china for a rainy day.
She was born in Chicago and grew up in Palatine, Illinois. She was educated as an accountant but her life’s work was making her family and friends feel loved and valued and making the world a more lovely place. Every event and day and celebration sparkled more brightly and was more filled with joy when Linda was present. Linda was elegant, gracious and kind. She was also hilarious and made those around her laugh out loud until tears streamed down our faces. She – literally - brought the fun and the flowers to every party. She created spots of beauty everywhere, arranging, organizing and decorating. Linda knew how to celebrate all holidays, her wrapped gifts resembled works of art, her Christmas tree a masterpiece. But it was Halloween where her artistic flair and appreciation of the weird came to full fruition. We will miss her love of huge pumpkins, the bizarre six-foot-tall stuffed bird adorned with spiders on her porch and the many slightly creepy objects of unknown origin throughout the house.
Linda leaves a legacy that reminds each of us to appreciate the people around us, to laugh out loud often, savor the moments and claim as our own what is beautiful and lovely.
A memorial service for Linda will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, November 7, 2022, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX, 75225.
