Lisa Cates Powell, age 61, passed away Tuesday morning, September 20, 2022, at her home in Red Oak, Texas. Lisa fought hard with multiple illnesses for close to 30 years. She was a strong, loving, and kind woman, who knew how to make you feel loved and accepted. She was known for her generosity and consistently wanted to make sure the people she loved were taken care of— going so far as to open her home to numerous family members throughout the years. Lisa’s family was everything to her. She married the love of her life, Mack Powell, in 1990, and gave birth to their daughter, Naomi, in 1991. Lisa was loved very much, and her presence will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; mother Wilma Hardy Cates and father Jack Cates. She is survived by her husband Willie Mack Powell; her daughter Naomi, and husband Robert Ramirez; Brother Michael, and wife Sharon Cates; Brother Ronnie, and wife Dawn Cates; Sister Kim and husband Randy Smith; Sister Cynthia and husband Alfred Schoelen; a large number of nieces, and nephews.
Visitation and funeral service will be at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, TX.
The visitation will be Monday, September 26th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 27th starting at 2:00 PM.
Pastor Cory Mullins will be officiating.
