She grew up spending her summers at Camp Waldemar. Her love of this special place created a legacy which led many of her family members (14 in all) to spend their summers there as well. She attended the Hockaday School in Dallas. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma at The University of Texas, where she met her husband Tom. They celebrated their 72nd anniversary this year.
Sis was an active member of the Heritage Club, Dallas Women’s Club, Dallas Garden Club, Mary Craig Class, Gambado Club, Dallas Women’s Club and Crystal Charity Ball, to name a few. She was an avid tennis player during her younger years and played bridge almost every day in her later life.
Sis had a great love of design and antiques. The home she made for her family was a great tribute to her passion and knowledge of English antiques. This, coupled with a passion for travel, took her around the world many times.
She had a deep love for all of her friends and family. Sis was a generous, funny, magnetic woman who’s smile would light up the room.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lois Pollard Dillard and Arvin “Red” Dillard, her brother Arvin “Bud” Dillard, and her sister Nancy Dillard Harvey.
Sis will be missed by her husband Tom Miller, her three sons and their wives; Stanley Miller, Ben and Cindy Miller, Charles and Enid Miller, and by her daughters Nancy Miller and Julie Miller Lloyd. She will also be missed by her 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Sis had an incredible life right up to the end. Sis left this world the morning of March 30th in her home surrounded by loved ones. She did so with her usual graceful elegance and a smile for everyone. We will miss her dearly.
We would like to thank all of the wonderful caretakers who helped her. Great gratitude goes to Beth Kassanoff, nurses Mandy Jenkins, Nancy Sweeney and Saudat Gatibaru.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Aging Mind Foundation are greatly appreciated.
