Lois Whisenant Richmond resident of Forney, Texas passed away on Friday March 14, 2025 at her home of 61+ years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forney and a member of the Eastern Star Dallas.
She was born in Eustace, Texas on August 16, 1929 to the late William “Pete” and Zimmie Whisenant. She spent her childhood on her family farm, working and going to school.
At the age of 17 she moved to Dallas to go to work. After a couple of years, she met the love of her life Ira Dee Richmond. In 1948 they married and started their family.
Together they had four children, three sons and one daughter. Ronald Edward Richmond, Judy Ann Adams, Michael Ray Richmond and Randy Lee Richmond.
She had a wonderful but hard life. After losing her husband at the early age of 38 and after 18 years of marriage. She had four young children to raise. In 1967 she went to work at Sears Roebuck where she worked for 27 years.
She has always been a hard-working Mom and her family has always been her #1 priority in life. She retired in 1994 and was still a strong, loving and independent 'Mom' or 'Granny' to all she met until 2019 when she lost her eyesight and became ill. Even then still a very stubborn, hardheaded Granny. Her way or no way. All who knew her loved her.
I guess you could say her favorite happiest time in her life was when she was around her family. She lived for them all. Holidays was her favorite because she knew all the family would be around and of course she loved the attention and receiving gifts from them all.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, two brothers, five sisters, son-in-law Jackie Adams and daughter-in-law, Suzanne Richmond.
Survived by her kids Ron (Sherry) Richmond, Judy Adams, Michael (Sally) Richmond and Randy Richmond.
Grandkids Keith and Monica Richmond, Geoff and Ronna Chin, Robyn Richmond, Stoney Adams, Cody and Jammi Richmond, Amber Finley, Josh and Tiffany Richmond, Tiffany Brook Anderson. She also had 22 great-grandkids and 6 great-great grandkids plus a host of extended family and friends.
She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
A graveside service for Lois will be held Monday, March 24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Grove Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
