Lorraine Agnes Horan, age 94, of Dallas, died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. She entered God’s Kingdom on April 2nd, 2023. Lorraine was born June 11th, 1928, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Anastasia and Nicholas Solheid. She was their only child. Upon graduation from high school, she went to work at an insurance company in St. Paul, where she met the love of her life, John Joseph Horan, who hailed from New York City. They were married in 1950 and until his passing in 2012, were best friends and stalwart partners. Together, they built a life centered on family, each doing their respective part to provide a stable base for their family.
Lorraine was the quintessential woman behind the man. Her counsel was sought by John at every phase of his professional life which took them to six different cities, lastly Dallas where John founded South & Western General Agency. Their union was the rock on which she built her life. She was a proud wife, mother, homemaker, and friend, as well as an accomplished interior designer, who worked professionally when asked, but her family came first.
She is survived by her children Stacie Horan Roork, Amanda Horan Andereck, JJ Horan and their spouses, David Roork and Michael Andereck. She has two grandchildren, Charlotte Roork and Katherine Andereck.
There will be a Requiem Mass at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 14th, at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Road, Dallas 75254. Afternoon tea will be served following the service. We ask that flowers be sent to the church prior to the service. Alternatively, donations may be made in her honor to the church or OperationKindness.org.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest.com for the Horan family.
