Luz Maria Garnica, age 65, passed away on September 23, 2025 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on November 28, 1959 in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico to Carlos Márquez Roche and María de la Luz Silva Quiroz. Luz was raised in Mazatlan Sinaloa and graduated from Escuela Normal de Educadoras in 1979. She married Ruben in 1981 and the couple had three children. She was a Fitness Instructor at multiple gyms across Dallas where she worked for more than 14 years.
In her spare time, Luz found her greatest joy in being with her family, especially her devoted husband Ruben, the love of her life for nearly forty-four years, and their children Ruben Jr., Richard, and Vanessa, as well as her cherished grandson Sean.
For more than twenty years, Luz began her mornings with a warm cup of coffee and friendly conversation during her daily visit to Einstein Bros. Bagels on Mockingbird, where she became a beloved part of the “Einstein family.” She delighted in teaching Zumba, and her frequent trips to Dollar Tree, Sprouts, and Aldi reflected her down-to-earth nature and love for life’s simple pleasures.
Luz lived her faith daily, giving of herself through volunteer work with organizations such as New Friends New Life, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Her generous spirit and compassion led her to serve wherever she was needed.
She also loved going to the movies with her “Darling,” as she lovingly called Ruben, and with her children. In recent years, one of Luz’s greatest blessings was the time she spent with her beautiful grandson Sean. Her radiant smile, always present, shone even brighter whenever she saw him.
Luz will be forever remembered for her beauty, both inside and out, her unwavering faith, and her genuine love for family and friends. Her energetic spirit, joyful heart, and trust in the Lord guided her through life and sustained her through every storm. Her bravery, resilience, and deep devotion to God and her loved ones remain an enduring inspiration to all who knew her.
