Malcom Cameron MD

Malcom D. Cameron, D.V.M., was a compassionate veterinarian, man of faith, and gentleman who lived his life by the Boy Scout Oath and Law. A veteran, baseball fan, and husband of 59 years, he joined his heavenly Father on September 25th, 2016 at the age of 81.

Mac was born February 23, 1935 in Madison, Wisconsin. The family later moved to Texas where he attended Highland Park High School. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout at Troop 70 and then went on to graduate from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Business Administration. At Missouri he was elected President of the Independent Men and met his future wife, Beverly Fulton. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957–1959 on a minesweeper and L.S.T achieving the rank of Lieutenant JG. In 1958, while stationed in Sasebo, Japan, Mac planned an elaborate wedding ceremony and married his beautiful bride Beverly.

Mac attended Texas A&M University and fulfilled his life-long dream of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1964. In 1969, Dr. Cameron opened the Preston Royal Animal Clinic. During his 47 years as a veterinarian, he introduced several innovations to pet care and veterinary practice in the North Dallas area. During this time, he also served and led in various roles within the veterinary profession.

Mac was a lifelong baseball fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers. He also was passionate about ballroom dancing; photography and eating dessert first…especially ice cream.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marty Cameron, his brother, Robert, daughter-in-law Cindy, and his grandson Reed.

Mac is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly, daughter Christina, son Jeff, daughter-in-law Melissa, two grand children, Grant and Katie as well as his sister-in-law, Ruth Ann.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, September 28th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home.

The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, September 29th at 2:30 at the Highland Park Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow. He will be interred at Sparkman Hillcrest.
