

Margaret Wise Fly, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend, passed on to join her father in heaven on November 12, 2013. She was 86 years old. Margaret was born in Jackson, TN on April 23, 1927. Her parents were Merrill and Laura Ann Wise of Jackson, TN. After high school Margaret studied art at Wesleyan Conservatory in Macon, Georgia. She returned to Jackson and married her next door neighbor, Joe Fly, her beloved husband and partner in life. They started their life together in Jackson and moved to Dallas, TX in 1950. Margaret dedicated her life to raising their children, cultivating lifelong friendship, her artwork and supporting her husband in his endeavor of starting his air filtration company. Margaret’s hobbies included teaching art to children and adults, bridge club, gardening, attending square dancing classes, traveling, cooking and spending time with her four grandchildren. She was a member of the Heritage Club, Dallas Woman’s Club and the Swinging Saints. She belonged to Lovers Lane Methodist Church and dearly loved her Sunday school teachers and members of her class. Margaret was true a Southern Lady. She was given the nickname Magnolia, due to her deep southern drawl. Margaret exemplified grace, kindness, compassion, fortitude, and a sharp but playful wit and treated everyone with the utmost kindness and respect. She was truly one of a kind. Margaret was predeceased by her infant daughter, Laura Ann Fly and is survived by her two children, Joe Wayne Fly, Jr. and wife Mary of Austin, TX, Margaret Collum of La Grange, TX; her grandchildren Courtney Caulfield, Cristin Caulfield, Trey Fly and wife Alison and Molly Fly. Margaret is also survived by her brother Merrill Wise Jr. and sister-in-law Margaret Wise of Jackson, TN. Our family gratefully acknowledges the wonderful care given to our Meemaw by her caregivers Claudja Spears, Felicia, Dolly, Margaret, Comfort and the staff at The Plaza at Edgemere. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Lover Lane United Methodist Church Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 10:30am at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church with a reception to follow.
