

Margarita Amaro Alcorta, beloved mother to six (6) children, Francisco Alcorta Jr., John Manuel Alcorta, Janie Alcorta, Nazario Alcorta, Rolando Alcorta and Armando Alcorta, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, suddenly after a brief illness, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
Margarita was also a loving wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves six grandchildren: Francisco Alcorta III (Gema), Nicholette (“Niki”) Alcorta (Tim), Amanda Ann Ramirez, (Pablo), Lindsay-Karen Alcorta, Veronica Michelle Sutton (David) and Nazario Alcorta, Jr., (J.R.) and eight great grandchildren: Vanessa, Valerie, Christina, Alyssa, Kristopher, Javi, Ariana and Soren.
Margarita Alcorta was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Francisco Alcorta Sr., infant children: Yolanda and Ruben. Margarita and Francisco were happily married for 50 years.
She was born in Bustamante, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, in 1937 to Concepcion and Perfecto Amaro.
Margarita attended primary school in Bustamante, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and married one of her classmates, Francisco Alcorta, before relocating and settling in Fresno, California. Francisco and Margarita worked throughout their young adult years harvesting the crops within the Harvest Bowl of California.
They moved to Texas with their young children in the summer of 1974 and briefly settled in Laredo, before moving to Dallas during the winter of 1975 in order to secure a more fulfilling work life for themselves and a promising future for their children.
During the 1970s through the 1980s and briefly in early 1990s, Margarita worked for Malouf Company of Dallas, which manufactured dresses for different department stores and then eventually with Neiman Marcus in the Epicure department preparing stylish gift and assorted food baskets. Margarita had a unique talent for preparing stylish baskets.
Margarita loved cooking, keeping a loving home for the family, and especially enjoyed growing and nurturing her flowers, rose bushes and fruit trees. She leaves a legacy of instilling a strong work ethic and unity in the family.
She will be forever loved and missed.
