Margelle Tanner

Margelle Welch Tanner of Dallas TX passed away on March 6, 2025, of natural causes. Marge was born in Hughes Springs TX to Clarence Edward and Eva Lee Welch (nee Newby). She was born the fifth of six children and is survived by brother Edward (Ted) Welch of McAlester OK. Siblings Nettie, Ermazelle, Homer and Sammie passed previously. Marge met future husband John Logan Tanner III while working at General Dynamics in Fort Worth TX. Married for 55 years, she is preceded in death by John’s passing on February 17, 2009, and with whom she is now joyfully reunited. Marge is survived by sons Frank David Tanner of Cooke County TX and John William Tanner of Greenwich CT, his wife Jackie and grandchildren Kristen, Brooke, Holden and Brady. Devoutly religious, Marge was a faithful member of the Congregation at Northway Christian Church in University Park Dallas for more than half a century. She regularly attended services and enjoyed singing in the Church choir on Sundays. She was active in Stephen ministries and tending to homebound members of the Congregation who were unable to attend services and for whom genuine care and attention was valuable. Please celebrate the life and passing of a lady whose devotion to God and charity to others is far too rare by urging everyone to try a little bit harder and become a little bit better.
