Marguerite Hughes

Marguerite Hughes, age 88, passed away on August 23, 2023 in Seagoville, Texas. She was born May 16, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to Lula Mae and Frank Marion Riggs and was raised in East Dallas. Marguerite married Henry B. Hughes on September 6, 1950 and they had six children. Her first job was at the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas as a candy girl. She was a homemaker and also later worked for Tom Thumb Food Stores as a meat wrapper for many years. Marguerite enjoyed taking care of the home and her family, reading spiritual books, and listening to music, her favorite was Jimmy Swaggart. Marguerite was also very talented in remodeling and home decorating. Her family and friends will always remember her as a devoted, loving mother and wife. She cared about others and voluntarily provided food boxes to those in need. Marguerite loved the Lord and always shared her faith in truth and grace.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Hughes; parents, Lula Mae and Frank Marion Riggs; children, twins Jack and Jackie Hughes, daughter Cathy J. Hughes; great-grandson, Trey W. Morris; and siblings, Frank Riggs Jr., Mary MacDonald, Norma Fox, Bobbie Holder, Betty Fraizer, and Karen Waxler.

She is survived by daughters Carol Avery of Dallas, TX, Mary Morris of Kemp, TX, Angela Sandidge of Lindale, TX, and Julie North of Quinlan, TX; siblings, Linda White, Sharon Bumpus, Judy Smith, Brenda Riggs, Claudette Stamper, Carl Riggs, and Duane Riggs; grandson, Aaron Hughes; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Marguerite will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228 with a funeral service to follow starting at 2:00 PM. A committal service will occur Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228.
