Marsha Fischman, a woman of super-human strength, courage and grace, finally succumbed to cancer on June 26, 2018. Marsha was born on July 5, 1941, in Dallas to Harold and Thelma (Levin) Saxe (both deceased.) She graduated from Highland Park H.S. in 1959 and matriculated at UT-Austin, where she majored in journalism and was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. She received her bachelor's degree in June,1962, and in August, 1962, she married Lawrence Fischman, who survives her; as do their children Charles, Craig and Lara, grandchildren Will, Scout (Sarah) and Cole, niece Brynn Ginsberg and nephew Eric Fischman. In addition to raising her family, and later spoiling her grandchildren (her chocolate chip cookies are legendary), Marsha had a successful career as a real estate broker and investor. She was rehabbing houses even before it became a cottage industry. Marsha was a woman of few words and many, many good deeds. A committed seeker of social justice, she supported and was active in numerous national and local organizations; primarily National Council of Jewish Women, L.I.F.T.,Temple Emanu-El and Friends of the Dallas Public Library. She served as president of NCJW-Dallas Branch, on many of its boards and committees and, in 1999, was the recipient of its Hanna G. Solomon Award for her distinguished service. Marsha was a dedicated feminist and infracaninophile. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 12:00 o'clock p.m., in the Stern Chapel of Temple Emanu-El, Hillcrest Road at Northwest Highway. In keeping with Marsha's preference, in lieu of flowers (although she loved them), donations may be made in her memory to NCJW-Dallas Branch or eleemosynary organization of choice.
