Those remaining to celebrate her life include Leroy Hicks, Shreveport, LA, Leamon & Deborah Hicks, Detroit, MI, and sister-in-law, Emma D. Hicks, Shreveport, LA.
She was an amazing Granny to all of her grandchildren & great grandchildren who she loved, adored & disciplined: Kendra Tene` Barron (LaShawn * Blake, Brock); Chelsea and Russell Givens, Darrius Eugene Hicks, TaMya N. Hicks, Eithan Jones, Sr. (Eithan, Jr. & Eihan), Lawyer Turner, Dewayne E. Hicks, Jr., (Michelle * Harmony, Kingston, Princess & Mijay); Christian D. Hicks (Addison Grace & Adynn; Leamon Eugene Hicks (Lauren, Leyah & Leamon, Jr.). She also has a slew of nieces & nephews whom she thought the world of & treated as if they were her children, as well; and bundles of adopted children - all of whom she dearly loved as her own.
She had an inner strength and great wisdom. She was known to be stern, yet compassionate, firm, yet funny, and if you sat with her for any length of time, you could feel the love of God oozing out of her heart.
She was a faithful servant & deaconess at her church (Oak Grove MBC), and if you were anywhere nearby, you knew when her soul was set afire as she just could not hold her peace. If you were in the vicinity of her voice, you would hear her humming a good old hymn, or reading her Bible aloud.
But her Shout and Praise to the Lord was an experience that was simply unforgettable. She loved the Lord so much that for the past 20+ years, her most earnest request was to see JESUS face-to-face. She simply wanted to GO HOME! Close your eyes and just imagine her good strong alto voice singing…
OH, I WANT TO SEE HIM – LOOK UPON HIS FACE
THERE TO SING FOREVER OF HIS SAVING GRACE
ON THE STREETS OF GLORY, LET ME LIFT MY VOICE
CARES ALL PAST – HOME AT LAST
EVER TO REJOICE!
And today we celebrate God for honoring her request.
She was a TRUE WORSHIPPER & now she sings, shouts, worships & ever rejoices in HEAVEN!
