Martha M. Valdez, 72, passed away on October 9, 2014. She was born on October 20, 1941 in Mexico to Jose and Isabela Mendoza. She is remembered as a wonderful mother, wife and grandmother to many. She was always willing to help anyone that needed her wisdom and care. She is remembered as “quite a character” and as the rock of the family who always did things her way. She always extended her hand to those in need and welcomed many into her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Isabela Mendoza; brothers, Ignacio and Leno Mendoza; sister-in-law, Guadalupe Mendoza; niece, Lydia Mendoza; brother-in-law, Jesse Obela and grandson, Enrique Mata. She is survived by her loving husband, Gavino Valdez; daughters, Sylvia Hart and Beatrice Hood; grandchildren: Andrew Mata, Jeanette Palmer and Christopher Reyes; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor on October 13, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Luke’s Catholic Church 202 S. MacArthur Blvd, Irving, TX 75060.
