Marvel attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Being a master in music, playing numerous counts of instruments, led Marvel to be the first Black American to play live on the radio in Oklahoma. Marvel loved lifting spirits of everyone he played for and he loved playing for anyone.
Marvel went on to serve this country by entering into the United States Air Force shortly after graduating high school.
Being a resident of Dallas, Texas along with his wife Dorothy, Marvel was head musician at his church, along with playing at other venues and events. He truly lived what he loved, family and music. You didn’t visit or be on the phone with him without music coming into play. The music as well as the man himself will continue to play in our hearts.
Marvel leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Dorothy; six sons, Ray Charles Kenneybrew, Gerald Kenneybrew, Wayne Kenneybrew, Marvel Kenneybrew, Jr., Tony Kenneybrew and Larry Kenneybrew; one daughter, Johnnitta Kenneybrew-Boone; four sisters, Armo Jean Haynes, Willie Marie Jackson, Alice F. Smith and Gloria D. Jones; three brothers, Louis Kenneybrew III, Wendell J. Kenneybrew and James I. Kenneybrew and a loving host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
