Estelle Calloway, age 98, passed away on January 29, 2020 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on August 25, 1921 in Scurry, Texas. Raised on a cotton farm, the youngest of six children, she developed a strong work ethic and love of cooking, carpentry and sewing. Estelle went on to marry, divorce, work full time as an accountant and raise 4 children and multiple grandchildren. No one is stronger in the eyes of her loved ones.
Estelle earned the nickname “the dragon” because it was said she could breathe fire. She was known for her feistiness, never holding back her opinion and an uncanny ability to tell it like it is. She impressed good manners upon all kids and didn’t shy away from slapping a hand for using the wrong knife in the butter dish. We are all better people because of and in spite of Estelle.
She will be greatly missed by her “honeypot” of over 50 years, Walter, and almost everyone who knew her. We know she is happy to be with her children in the great beyond.
