

Born August 2, 1926 to Mariano S. Menchaca and Maria A. Loera Menchaca in Greenville, TX. Died August 8, 2024 at the age of 98 in Dallas, TX where she lived since 1947. She was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She was the mother of seven daughters and one son, had 28 grandchildren and a very large family of over 200 within 6 generations, and was called Mommy. At a young age she attended School for four years in San Antonio, TX and as a resident five years in Mexico being well versed in English and Spanish. She worked as a seamstress at Marilyn Belt Mfg. and Princess Belt Inc. in Downtown Dallas. Her passion was making clothes for her children and embroidering. She loved dancing to Tejano and Mexican music never missing Saturday Ballroom Dances or Sunday afternoon Tardeadas. She also enjoyed watching Football and Baseball games on TV, was an avid bingo player, enjoyed going to the casinos and traveled extensively throughout Mexico and Texas with husband Louie. As a cook she excelled in preparing all types of meals for her family and friends. Upon retiring she worked as a volunteer for several social service organizations and providing assistance to any in her family and others that needed it.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Porfirio M. Valenzuela, father of all her children, and second husband Eulogio L. Espinoza. Also preceded in death by sisters Lubina Tinajero, Pauline Martinez, Rosa Heritage, brothers Antonio Menchaca, Mario Menchaca and Arnold Menchaca. She is also preceded in death by daughters Luvina V. Ragan, Olga Valenzuela, Irene V. Barron and Cookie Valenzuela.
She is survived by daughters Maria Olivia Valenzuela, Dorelia V. Valtierra (Frank), Irma V. Salazar and son Robert P. Valenzuela (Carmen). Also survived by Sisters Lupe Martinez, Irene Offenheiser (Douglas), Brother Daniel Menchaca (Araceli) and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition, survived by 26 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and great great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Mary will be held August 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, Texas 75220. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be August 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Hill Main Mausoleum North Chapel. A committal service will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
