

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on February 11, 2017 at Calvary Hill chapel in Dallas with Deacon Ron Morgan of Holy Family of Nazareth parish officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Cavalry Hill Cemetery.
Mary Elaine Zummach was born in 1939 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to August Zummach and Mary Monsimer Zummach. She was the eldest of five children. She attended Highlands University where she studied chemistry, and after graduating with her bachelor’s degree she moved to Washington D.C. to work for the Food and Drug Administration. There, she met her husband Lane K. Hintz; they married in 1964. In 1969, they moved to Irving, where Mary became a member of the Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church.
A member of Holy Family for over 47 years, Mary contributed to the parish and the Dallas Diocese in many ways including through eucharistic ministry, rosary making, and the adoration program. She was involved with the Holy Family Altar Guild, including altar care and care of votive candles and as treasurer. She also participated in the Legion of Mary (secretary), the Sisters of Holy Family of Nazareth Associates, and more recently she managed the Holy Family gift shop. She served as a Leader of the St. Francis Circle and as board secretary and treasurer for both the HFN Ladies Guild Board and the Dallas Deanery Council of Catholic Women.
In the larger community she worked as a school crossing guard for the Irving Police Department, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and a hospital volunteer. She worked with the Irving Healthcare Volunteers newsletter The Blue Note since the mid 90s and as editor for ten years.
Mary is preceded in death by her father August Zummach and mother Mary Monsimer Zummach, her brothers Gus Zummach and Paul Zummach, and her husband Lane K. Hintz.
Mary is survived by her daughter Carol Hintz and husband Todd Hart, daughter Patricia Gillikin and husband Donald Gillikin, sister Cecelia Zummach Pepper, brother Joseph Zummach, and grandchildren Alexandra Gillikin and Alistair Gillikin.
