Mary C Lopez

Mary was born on September 5th, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Ramòn and Julia Martinez. During a trip to Dallas to visit family, Mary met the love of her life, Joe Arthur Lopez. Wed on June 1st of 1963, they had one son, Joe Arthur Lopez, Jr.

Mary was a teacher assistant for the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) for more than 20 years. In her spare time Mary enjoyed gardening, shopping and spending time with family. She loved to garden and recently began exploring sweet wines from around the world. Her family always came first, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends will always remember her as generous, loyal and very independent.

Maria “Mary” Christina Lopez is proceeded in death by her husband of 32 years, Joe A. Lopez, Sr. as well as her parents, Ramón and Julia Martinez, her sister, Norma Martinez and brothers Raymond Martinez and Andres “Andy” Martinez.

Mary is survived by her son, Joe A. Lopez Jr., his wife Genie Lopez. The apples of her eye were her grandchildren. She is survived by grandchildren Gabrielle A. Lopez, Anelisse M. Boyd her husband Matthew R. Boyd, Alexis D. Lopez, Samuel J. Lopez and his wife Summer G. Lopez. She is survived by her great-grandchildren, Seryn Ava Boyd, Benaiah H. Boyd and Tatum Danielle Burt. As well her first great-grandson, Lawson Lopez she was thrilled about due this fall.

Mary is also survived by sisters, Dolores Leal and husband Antonio and Josephine Hernandez and son David Hernandez and wife Leah Hernandez and their four beautiful children that brought her so much joy.

Mary’s vast extended family includes surviving aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. There are several she loved as her own, to include Mary M. Lopez, Ernest Lopez, his wife Carol and nephew Michael Lopez, Christine A. Rodriguez and her son Danny D. Rodriguez. They served and loved Mary well through her very last days.

A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. A prayer service will occur Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. An interment will occur Friday, June 9, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 9, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247.

Mary will be laid to rest in Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220-3338; STATIONS OF THE CROSS; Lot: 53, Grave: 2.
