Born to Juanita Moralez and Edd Hernandez on 1.24.1936 in Jayton Texas.
The family moved to Littlefield Texas where she attended school and worked until she married Robert E. Rodriquez. They had a son, Robert H. Rodriquez, and a daughter Stella. Mary became a cosmetologist and owned her own beauty salon for 13 years until the family moved. The family moved to Irving Texas in 1971 to pursue better business opportunities for Robert Sr. and greater educational opportunities for the children.
Mary was a woman of faith and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Littlefield, Texas, and a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Irving, Texas.
Mary is survived by her husband, Robert, as well as her children, Robert Jr. and Stella. Her surviving nieces and nephews include Barbara Bustillos, Rita Nieto, Sallie Cortez, Domingo Garcia, Nancy Felan, and the Hernandez family members: Mike, Isaac, Israel, Ramon, Irene, Inez and Paul. Additionally, she leaves behind a multitude of great-nieces and great-nephews whom she cherished.
People in Irving commonly called her Aunt Mary. She helped her husband start and build their company, City Wide Masonry. She was a great cook and homemaker. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. She loved to travel both for business and pleasure.
She contributed to multiple charities, especially donating to seminaries and donating to foreign missions that provide medical care and food for children in need. She had a great devotion to our Lady of Guadalupe and to the Sacred Heart.
She enjoyed life to the fullest and faced medical challenges with good grace and courage. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She wanted others to know she was glad to help others and never intentionally hurt anyone, and if she did, she asks forgiveness. Her last wishes: please vote and care for your community, enjoy your blessings and forgive others.
She had a good death. She had time to prepare those she loved and to prepare herself. It was a gentle passing after a long, difficult journey. Remember her in your heart and in your prayers. She always held you dear in hers.
